Sandys-Winsch Community Room
Located in Waterloo Park and available to hire for private and corporate events.










Introduction
Named after Captain Arnold Edward Sandys-Winsch, creator of Waterloo Park and the pavilion, this beautiful community room is situated above our Waterloo Park Pavilion Café. It is available to hire 7 days a week.
Location and Parking
The car park for Waterloo Park is free and is located off Angel Road. The postcode is NR3 3HX.
This room and the café are located in the large pavilion building in the centre of the park about a five minute walk from the car park.
About the room
There are 12 x 2 metre tables (purchased new in 2022) and a small number of other tables.
We have at least 50 chairs.
There is a small kitchen off the room.
A large roof terrace is outside the room which you can have access to.
Toilets are on the ground floor.
Capacity
The maximum capacity for the room is:
60 standing
50 seated on chairs
40 seated at tables and chairs
Accessibility
There is a lift to the room which is on the first floor of the building.
By arrangement with our team, we can unlock the access gate and enable vehicles to drop off right outside the building.

Community Hire
Community is at the heart of what we do and so we will ensure the majority of room hire is for events which fit one or more of these categories:

Community hire when café is open
Room Only – £12.50 per hour
Room and Side Kitchen – £15 per hour
Room plus Catering Services (excluding drinks only) from The Feed – £5 per hour plus catering costs
Community hire when café is closed
Room only - £25 per hour
Room & Side Kitchen - £30 per hour
Room plus Catering Service (excluding drinks only) from The Feed - £15 per hour plus catering costs Corporate Hire
Note: whilst we can accommodate events in the late afternoon after the café closes, the park and pavilion building are not suitable for events late into the evening.
Corporate Hire

We can provide a catered-for solution in a beautiful space, with views over the park.

Key Details for Corporate Hire
Corporate hirers must book catering for a minimum of 20 people in addition to the room.
Events need to take place during the café opening hours on Monday to Friday. We are open 8.00 am to 5.00pm from April to September and 8.30am to 4.30pm from October to March.

Private Hire
Introduction
A private event is one that is by invitation only to your family/friends, for example, a birthday party, christening celebration, anniversary party or post-funeral gathering.
Why not use the room and the park? Schedule some time in the fresh air for some outdoor activities?
We can provide a catered-for solution in a beautiful space, with views over the park.
By hiring the room and using our catering services, you help us to empower communities in Norwich, ensuring each and every person has the support to eat well, live well, and feel connected.
Key Details for Private Hire
Private hirers must book catering for a minimum of 20 people in addition to the room.

Extras
These costs apply to Community and Private bookings. For Corporate bookings, there is no extra cost for Room Set-up, projector, screen and flip chart.
Please let us know which of these you need at the time of your booking. Any extras added on the day of your event will need to be paid for that day by cash or card.
DIY Refreshments
If hiring the Side Kitchen you can choose to make use of the water boiler.
We will provide tea, instant coffee, milk, sugar, mugs and spoons.
You do not have to wash up but please stack washing up neatly in the kitchen when finished.
Cost per person £1, per hour of hire, or £5 per person for all day event, £3 for half day.
Room set-up
This includes positioning chairs and tables as required for your event. We will then be responsible for putting them away afterwards.
1-10 people – no charge
11 – 25 people - £10
26 – 35 people - £12.50
36 – 45 people - £15.00
46 – 60 people - £20.00
You do not have to opt for this service. If you do choose not to, you will be responsible for setting up the room as you would like.
The room must be returned to the same layout as the start of the hire.
Please inform us how many tables and chairs you will require.
Projector and screen
Cost to hire for event - £25
Can be connected to phone, laptop, memory stick via 5G or HDMI cable. Has built in SRS sound system
A1 Flip chart with white board and pens
Cost to hire for event - £12.50
Alcohol Policy
We cannot supply alcohol but you can bring your own for an event.
Behaviour in the room should always be with the community at mind. We are mindful that some of the people we support may have faced challenges with alcohol, therefore there may be times when it is not appropriate for us to allow alcohol and we will advise you of that at the point of booking.
Terms and Conditions of Hire
How to book the room
The online diary for the room is shown below.
Use the arrows for Next Week, Previous Week etc to move to the dates you want to look at.
Use the grey slider button below the days in the diary to move through the days of the week.
When you are ready to book, use the + button on your chosen day which will open a new tab in your browser.
Input your details on the new tab, then hit the Save button at the bottom of the page.
Our team will be in touch regarding your booking enquiry.
We will manage bookings to optimise the use of the room, for instance, avoiding one hour gaps in between bookings.
