There is a lot happening at our Hall Road hub including many new things to let you know about.
We opened our Social Supermarket there last July and in the other half of the building our Community Café and Kitchen was up and running from November. The café side is a place for members of the Supermarket to pop in any time for a chat, to meet others and grab a tasty bite to eat or drink.
This year we have been growing the number of other advice and social sessions which take place in the café side. Examples of these are:
Money Skills Workshops to give guidance on budgeting money which are run by Your Own Place
Regular sessions by Citizens Advice covering a wide range of areas including how to get the benefits you are entitled to
Community meals where, with help from others, we provide a full, cooked two-course lunch for free. This has been a roast dinner in the past with a delicious hot dessert.
So what's new?
Following the survey we undertook among our members, we have been looking at the feedback and are now shaping some new sessions. These include:
Bounce and Rhyme Time which takes place each Monday morning from 9.30am. This is a chance for parents to sing and read with their young children. This is a great way to bond and to learn at the same time. There's free tea and coffee and a snack for the little ones at the end. No booking is needed, just turn up and have fun.
Wellness Wednesdays are to help look after mental wellbeing. Come along for a hot drink, and a chat about mental health with one of our team who are trained in this area. They can guide you through some fun ways to help your wellbeing.
As you can see, our aim for our hub at Hall Road is to be much more than just the provider of affordable groceries. As well as eating well, through our work we want everyone to live well and feel connected in their local community.
Help us do more
We have so much more we'd like to do to help the 5,000 people who are members at our Hall Road hub.
