A hot dinner in a friendly community venue

“We can’t do a roast at home so it’s lovely to sit here with others, have a proper roast dinner and stay warm in here.

It’s just about being warm in a community with others, it’s perfect.”

You may know about the Social Supermarket we opened in Norwich last summer. It provides affordable groceries to over 2,000 households already - people affected by the cost of living crisis and are unable to buy all the food they need.

In the adjoining unit to the supermarket we've created a community café, a place where members can connect while having a tasty bite to eat and drink. And this is just the start ... we are ramping up the services and support available from our team and partner organisations in this café space.

One such initiative is our monthly community meal. The latest one took place recently and seventeen members tucked into a delicious roast dinner followed by crumble for dessert. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere throughout.

The quote at the top of this post sums up what we are trying to achieve better than we could. It's why we say our food makes a difference.

Thank you to the organisations who help us put these meals on:

  • Bernard Matthews

  • City College Norwich

  • Shred Station Ltd

  • Business in the Community
