Coast Walk success!
Our Coast Walk fundraising event took place on Saturday 12th October, with the challenge of walking the 15 miles along the Norfolk Coast Path from Blakeney to Cromer. It's a tough route including several miles of shingle beach and a few hills too.
We are delighted to announce that 75 people took part and collectively we raised over £16,000!
How will these funds be used?
These funds will help us to continue running all our projects which help people in Norwich to eat well, live well and feel connected. The largest of these projects is our Social Supermarket and Community Café on Hall Road.
We asked our manager there, Kelsey Lund, to tell us about this work:
"Every day, I get to see the difference supporters and donors of The Feed can make to our community when they get involved. The people we welcome have often faced challenges that many of us could hardly imagine. Some are still fighting through overwhelming circumstances: navigating already stretched statutory services and pushing through endless red tape, just to survive. For a lot of people, it is not 'severe trauma' or 'bad budgeting' that has led them through our doors, it has been a tiny shift in circumstances that has had detrimental effects on their lifestyle.
For some of our members, it’s financially impossible to maintain a healthy diet without the free fruit and vegetables we provide. I can promise you, many people sacrifice fresh food, for the sake of fuelling their home or purchasing their children’s school uniforms.
For others, the café is a safe space to find warmth, internet access, and compassion, without the expectation of spending £5 on a coffee. What they want and need most is a judgement-free zone.
So, to everyone who took part in our Coast Walk, donated and the event sponsors, thank you for being part of the magic. You’re helping us to empower and build communities, where everyone can eat well, live well and feel connected".
