Norwich Communities Winter Shelter

Norwich Communities Winter Shelter ran for the first time over the winter of 2018-2019, from beginning of December to end of March. It was the first time Norwich has had a shelter for very many years was a response from the churches and communities in Norwich to to the increase in rough sleeping over the last five years.

In total 58 people used the shelter, some just once or twice and others very regularly. 29 of those have now been housed, and all have been offered further support.

The shelter was based in churches and community centres and was been a community response, with help from Norwich City Council.

The Feed helped the shelter to recruit and train volunteers.

The shelter is likely to be required again next winter and we will be working with partners to help ensure it can get more people off the streets over the winter.
